Backtrack: The Space Race

About This Episode

From the mid-1950s the Soviet Union and the United States were engaged in a race to be the first to conquer outer space. When President Kennedy challenged the country in 1962 to go to the moon and come back within the decade, it seemed like an impossible task: something that was science fiction. But the United States met the challenge and succeeded. This week we talk about how the space race affected us growing up Generation X.
