So, you don’t have to worry about any spoilers here. The folks that do that kind of crap should be lined up and shot (can you tell I feel a little passionate about that?).

When the lights finally dimmed and we watched what felt like an hour of previews I was ready for something special.

The Star Wars music started, the words “Star Wars” jumps into view and shrinks into the distance and the iconic text started to scroll across the screen.

Episode 7 The Force Awakens

I admit it, I felt emotional. It was like I was a kid again watching the opening for the Empire Strike Back.

It was freaking awesome.

Another confession, I was terrified that this movie could not possibly live up to the hype. Months of getting slammed with advertising, trailers, merchandising and expectation could only set us up for disappointment.

It was better than I hoped. The new characters are interesting and flawed and worth knowing. Seeing the tie ins to the previous episodes really made me feel like I was back to the Star Wars universe….well, galaxy anyway…. one that is far far away.

As someone who barely manages to squeeze in as a GenXer my memories include more of the 70's than those younger GenXers. Reading and movies are my passions with some video gaming thrown in there for good measure!
