I heard the reviews.

I read some of the reviews.

They all said how bad it was.

I saw it anyway.

So how bad was it?

Was it as bad as getting a call from an ex that starts with “Hey, I don’t want to freak you out but you might want to get some tests done at your doctors”

No.

Was is as bad as getting into your car after a long hot summer day and realizing that you forgot to take out the ice cream that you bought the night before?

No.

Was it as bad as getting called into a meeting and the only other people on the room is your boss and someone from Human Resources?

No… well….. ummm… No, no, definitely not that bad.

But was it a good movie?

No.

I left the movie feeling cheated. I told my friend Jon that perhaps we were being more critical than most given that we were the kids that played Pac Man and those other games in the 80’s. His response was that this movie was targeting us so we should be critical.

And he is right.

There were a few laugh moments. But they were few and far between.

OK, I’m going to geek out here for a minute so if this stuff puts you to sleep, you can go ahead and stop reading.

The premise was dumb, we have to beat them at life size video games. But video games are made so that you cannot beat them! So what constituted a win?

Someone in the movie cheats with cheat codes…. which do not exist for arcade games. (I’m talking the cabinet games here)

AND YOU CANNOT RIDE BARRELS IN DONKEY KONG!!!!

OK, I got that out of my system.

Wait for the video if you really want to see it.

I was so looking forward to this movie too. Oh well, at least they are making a second Wreck it Ralph!
