Strategy X began as a 1981 Konami arcade game before reaching the Atari 2600 in 1983—one of just three games Konami published for the system. It should have been something special. Instead, it feels unfinished, unfair, and barely play-tested. This week on Friday Plays, I revisit a game I once skipped and ask: Am I missing something, or is it really this bad? #atari #retrogaming #atari2600 #genxgrownup - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv

I picked up this 2007 JAKKS Pacific PAC-MAN plug-and-play at the Southern Fried Gaming Expo and had to take a closer look. Eight classic Namco games, one weird joystick, and one VERY big green button — let’s see how this little piece of plug-and-play history holds up. #pacman #retrogaming #handheld #genxgrownup - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv - CHAPTERS 00:00 JAKKS Pac 01:40 Hardware Overview 04:50 Clean Up 05:55 Power On 08:47 Pac-Man Plus 09:57 Pac & Pal 10:52 Super Pac-Man 12:00 Galaxian 12:44 Dig Dug 13:37 New Rally-X 14:38 Bosconian 16:00 Conclusion

ATARI is asking nearly $1,000 for its new collection of 39 physical ACTIVISION cartridge re-releases — and plenty of people are calling that price outrageous. But is it really? Rather than argue about whether $1,000 simply feels like too much, I decided to run the numbers. In this video, I compare Atari’s new collection with what these same games cost when they were originally released, what those prices represent in today’s dollars, and what it would cost now to assemble the same 39-game collection using original cartridges, boxes, and manuals. The results put that $999.96 price tag into a very different perspective. What do you think? Is Atari charging too much, or does the price make more sense once you see the comparison? With individual editions starting at $34.99 and an Ultimate Deluxe Set containing all 39 cartridges for just under $1,000, is this the ultimate retro collector’s dream—or has Atari gone too far?
