ALIEN on Atari 2600 | “In Space, No One Can Hear You Copy Pac-Man.”

Alien is a 1982 maze video game based on the 1979 film of the same name, published by Fox Video Games for the Atari 2600. The game has the player control a human moving through the hallways of a space ship avoiding the adult alien and destroying the small alien eggs. Along with Mega Force and M*A*S*H, Alien was among the tie-in video games made for 20th Century Fox's video game division programmed by Doug Neubauer. Reviews from The Video Game Update and video game critic Brett Weiss found the game to be derivative of other games like Pac-Man. #atari #alien #retrogaming #genxgrownup - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com

Atari Just Made Game Boy Relevant Again

Atari on a Game Boy… in 2025? Yep. ModRetro’s new Atari ’90s Rewind Collection drops three classics—Asteroids, Centipede, and Super Breakout—remastered in full color with fresh soundtracks on the Chromatic cartridge system, priced at $99.99. It’s designed for Chromatic but also works on original GB/GBC and Analogue Pocket, giving handheld retro a legit glow-up. Plus: Saturn fans—there’s a new SAROO firmware with slick features (cheats, media players, Photo CD support, config editing), but early reports say proceed with caution due to caveats and instability. We’ll unpack what’s great and what to skip—at least for now. And to cap it off, the Indie Horror Showcase 2025 returns Oct 23 at 10am PT / 1pm ET, co-hosted by John Wolfe and BigGaming64, with fresh reveals from horror publishers. We’ll preview what to watch. If you dig retro news with real talk, hit like & subscribe, and drop your take: colorized Atari on GB—genius or gimmick? Atari 2600’s CHOPPER COMMAND | Activision’s DEFENDER Knock-Off?

Chopper Command is a horizontally scrolling shooter video game released by Activision for the Atari 2600 in June 1982. It was written by Bob Whitehead. The player flies a helicopter left and right over a scrolling, wraparound landscape, shooting down enemy airplanes to protect a convoy of trucks below. In Chopper Command, the player controls a military helicopter in a desert scenario protecting a convoy of trucks. The goal is to destroy all enemy fighter jets and helicopters that attack the player's helicopter and the friendly trucks traveling below, ending the current wave. The game ends when the player loses all of his or her lives or reaches 999,999 points. A radar, called a Long Range Scanner in the instruction manual, shows all enemies, including those not visible on the main screen, similar to Defender . The player's helicopter is destroyed if it collides with an enemy aircraft or a truck (which destroys the truck as well) or is shot by an enemy. Each enemy bullet splits in two, one going up and one going down. Using the "A" difficulty level results in a slower player shot. Each enemy helicopter is 100 points and each enemy jet is 200 points. After each wave, bonus points are awarded for remaining trucks. A player who achieved 10,000 points could send in a photo of the TV screen and receive a "Chopper Commandos" patch. #atari #retrogaming #activision #genxgrownup - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS Keys of Fury » https://keysoffury.com King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com

ReStory: Atari Therapy Simulator?! + More Retro News!

ReStory puts you behind the workbench in a cozy early-2000s Japanese repair shop, where you carefully take apart and restore retro tech – including officially licensed Atari hardware like the 2600 – turning broken memories into working treasures again. ?? In this episode of Bit By Bit, we dig into how ReStory turns electronics repair into something that feels almost like therapy for both the gadgets and the player, with satisfying teardown, cleaning, and reassembly moments that will hit every retro fan right in the feels. We’ll also talk about an insane DIY Commodore 64 laptop build that stuffs modern hardware into a period-correct C64 “portable” shell, complete with that classic beige look, mechanical keyboard, and compatibility with vintage accessories. ?? And if that’s not enough nostalgia, there’s even a brand-new FPS released for the ZX Spectrum, proving that some “retired” systems just refuse to die and are still getting fresh games decades later. ??? From Atari tear-downs to C64 laptops and surprise Spectrum shooters, it’s a great week to be a retro gamer. #??
