I spend some time talking about the perfect storm of a film that is Wreck-It Ralph, why it resonated so strongly with a GenX’er like myself, and why it’s still one of my favorites.
GravitreX is a physics simulation game that has you trying to land two ships on their respective platforms. Like the old classic Lunar Lander, but much more difficult and more heavily physics-based. And who wouldn’t want to play some super-charged Lunar Lander, right? Jon sure does! #GravitreX #LunarLander #GenXGrownUp Patreon » patreon.com/genxgrownup Merchandise » GenXGrownUp.com/merch […]
During this renaissance of Atari 2600 games in the wake of the release of the 2600+, prices for those decades-old cartridges continue to climb. So it’s even more important now to know the caliber of the game inside the increasingly-expensive little plastic boxes. In this video I rank every title published by third-party developer, U.S. […]

Homebrew is absolutely on a roll in 2026 ?? Mega Cat Studios is kicking off the year with a triple physical-cart drop for classic Nintendo hardware—Super Fanger (SNES) plus Plyuk and Old Towers (NES). Three new reasons to dust off the old consoles? Yes please. ??
Plus, Nintendo fans get a surprising “free” win: Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (a pricey GameCube gem) is essentially available via Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack—but there’s a catch you’ll want to hear about.
And because we’re living our best retro timeline, we take a quick nostalgia detour into forgotten ‘70s hits like Shark Jaws, Sea Wolf, Combat, Space Wars, and Galaxian—games that were huge once… and then poof. ???
? Drop a comment: are you buying modern homebrew on real carts, or sticking to emulation?

A new I, Robot release in just a few days, so let's get re-acquanted with the original!

If you're unfamiliar with the original I, Robot, that's very likely not your fault. Reportedly, fewer than 1000 of the cabinets were ever manufactured and released to arcades - and that's a shame, because it has quite a pedigree. Not only was it developed by Dave Theurer (who worked on classics like Missile Command and Tempest), but is also notable as being the first commercially produced arcade game rendered entirely with real-time, flat-shaded, 3D polygonal graphics.
At the time, I Robot received negative reviews and was a financial flop for Atari, but in the intervening years, it has been recognized as the landmark title that it is - and was even included in the Atari 50 collection in 2022.
So, to get us all ready for the 2025 modernized version headed our way, let's travel back to 1983 and get better acquainted with the original.
