Atari 2600 LASER GATES from Imagic | “I, For One, Welcome Our New AI Overlords!”

Laser Gates is a side-scrolling shooter for the Atari 2600, developed by Imagic in 1983, where players navigate the "Dante Dart" through a "cryptic computer" to destroy four failsafe detonators and save the universe. Notable details include its rare nature, gameplay elements like energy management and diverse enemies (radar mortars, homing missiles, and laser gates), and a variety of obstacles such as flashing force fields and jagged walls. Players must collect energy pods while carefully avoiding shooting them, manage their shields, and time their movements to navigate flashing, flexing, and closing laser gates. #atari #retrogaming #genxgrownup - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com

ATARI 2600 Lost Luggage | The Baggage Carousel Has RUN AMOK!

Join Numskull for FREE: https://genxgrownup.com/fbqa Lost Luggage is a 1982 action video game developed and published by Games by Apollo for the Atari 2600. The player controls skycaps working at an airport and tries to collect pieces of luggage that fall overhead from a frantic luggage carousel. A two-player mode, in which the second player controls the direction the luggage falls, is also available. Programmer Ed Salvo was inspired to make Lost Luggage when he was waiting for his luggage at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, and the game took around four weeks to produce. Reviewers criticized the game's similarity to Activision's Kaboom!—which itself is based on the arcade game Avalanche—believing Lost Luggage to be an inferior clone. #atari #retrogaming #luggage #genxgrownup - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS Numskull Facebook Group » https://genxgrownup.com/fbqa G'AIM'E Time Crisis » http://genxgrownup.com/gaime King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com

Atari 2600 PAC-MAN | What Caused This 1982 Pac to Be SUB-PAR?

Pac-Man is a 1982 maze video game developed and published by Atari, Inc. for the Atari 2600 (originally known as the Atari Video Computer System) as a port of Namco's 1980 arcade game of the same name. The player controls the title character, who attempts to eat all of the wafers in a maze while avoiding four ghosts that pursue him. Eating flashing wafers at the corners of the screen causes the ghosts to temporarily turn blue and flee, allowing Pac-Man to eat them for bonus points. Once eaten, a ghost is reduced to a pair of eyes, which return to the center of the maze to be restored. Pac-Man was programmed by Tod Frye and took six months to complete. Expecting high sales, Atari produced more than a million copies of the highly anticipated game and held a "National Pac-Man Day" on April 3, 1982 to promote its release. Pac-Man remains the best-selling Atari 2600 game of all time, selling over 8 million copies, and was the all-time best-selling video game for several years. Despite its commercial success, the game was panned by critics for its poor graphics and sound, as well as for bearing little resemblance to the original arcade game. Since its release, it has been considered one of the worst video games ever made and one of the worst arcade ports released on the system. #atari #retrogaming #pacman #genxgrownup @atari - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com
