Shark! Shark! for Mattel Intellivision | Surprisingly So-FISH-ticated for 1982!

Maybe the first fish-eat-fish free-swim game ever, and it's from 1982! Watch MORE Friday Plays NOW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHthXmf6Fnc&list=PL13zHeyDr6xswcm1YMnJivU0jefJIOLcb&ab_channel=GenXGrownUp Shark! Shark! is an Intellivision game originally designed by Don Daglow, and with additional design and programming by Ji-Wen Tsao, one of the first female game programmers in the history of video games. The player is a fish who must eat smaller fishes in order to gain points and extra lives while avoiding enemies such as larger fishes, sharks, jellyfish, lobsters and crabs. After eating a certain number of fish, the player's fish grows in size and is thus able to eat a larger selection of fish. However, while the larger fish becomes a bit faster, he is less agile than the small fish and has a harder time avoiding enemies. Shark! Shark! was originally considered by Mattel to be a cute game for kids and unlikely to make strong inroads into the gaming community.[citation needed] The game was unexpectedly popular, forcing Mattel to quickly manufacture another batch of cartridges. The original cartridge run was only 5,600 units. #intellivision #atari #retrogaming #genxgrownup - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com

1992 Asterix on the Sega Master System | What’s All the HYPE ABOUT?

Asterix is a typical side scrolling platform game where either Asterix or Obelix must navigate through each stage, in most stages the player must locate a key that will open a door at the end of the stage, some stages a boss must be defeated to complete the stage. Not that Jon would know any of that, though, since he's NEVER played Asterix. In this experimental video, Jon first up Asterix for the first time to see what all the fuss is about! The game is broken up into 8 different areas with between 1 and 3 stages in each area. The player starts with 3 lives and 3 health points, a health point is lost if the character is hit by an enemy a live is lost if all health points are lost or the character falls down a hole. Health points can be obtained by picking up certain items during the game. When certain bosses are defeated a heart is obtained, collecting this heart increases the health capacity by one point. The character can have up to 6 health points. #sega #retrogaming #genxgrownup - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com - CHAPTERS

Luxor Evolved | Ball-Matching Turned VECTOR RETRO!

Luxor Evolved is a tile-matching video game originally released in 2012 by MumboJumbo. Luxor Evolved is a complete visual and gameplay refresh of the Luxor series, taking the previous titles' staple Ancient Egypt thematics and combining them with a retro video game aesthetic. The design philosophy is similar to that of the Pac-Man Championship Edition series, modifying the traditional match-three mechanics with an enhanced focus on both high-speed gameplay and arcade-style look and feel. #matching #retrogaming #live #genxgrownup - LINKS https://store.steampowered.com/app/205830/Luxor_Evolved/ - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com

Atari 2600’s Fast Eddie: No Story, No Power-Ups, NO PROBLEM!

Can a game be TOO simple? See MORE Friday Plays NOW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmlnlyzIo_M&list=PL13zHeyDr6xswcm1YMnJivU0jefJIOLcb&ab_channel=GenXGrownUp Fast Eddie is a video game on the Commodore 64 and Atari 2600, released in 1982, developed by Sirius Studios and published by 20th Century Fox. You play as the titular Fast Eddie, who collects the levels' prizes (Hearts, tanks or fish for instance) and avoids Sneakers, who are blue Waddling Heads. At the top, there's an orange Sneaker named Hi-Top who's too high to jump over at first, but as Eddie collects prizes, Hi-Top gets shorter. After collecting nine prizes, Hi-Top turns normal size and Eddie can grab the key, which allows him to move on to the next level. "You've got to be quick and you've got to be steady The skills you need to play Fast Eddie He's on his way to the top And man can he hop And when you think you're the master You face a disaster 'Cause the Sneakers are coming So you better get running And when you catch all the prizes There's even more sizes Cause when you get to the top and go after the key, You can still get stomped by Hi-Top, you see." —The commercial script for the game - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com
