The Hateful Eight (2015) Review
The Hateful Eight (2015) – Rated R – Reviewed December 30, 2015 – IMDb
If this was the first Tarantino movie I had ever seen I probably would have wondered what the hell was going on for most of the movie. But knowing that this was written and directed by Tarantino, I was OK with not knowing everything that was going on and just enjoyed the characters and letting things unfold. I knew that it would all come together at some point….. probably with lots of crazy, over the top violence and blood flying everywhere…. and it does.
One of the things I like most about Tarantino movies is that you learn about the characters the way learn about people you meet in everyday life, through dialog. Listening to the back and forth between the “Eight”, they become fully fleshed out people which raises the tension of the movie as you wait for the inevitable climax. Who is gonna make it? Will the (kinda) good guys win? Will the (kinda) bad guys win? Who’s lying?
The acting in this was top notch but Jennifer Jason Leigh as Daisy had to be one of the most…. crap what’s the word? Dislikeable? Repugnant? Disturbing? Characters of the bunch. But somehow still admirable? Jeeze, you just need to see the movie and you’ll get what I am trying to say here.
