Atari’s Solar Fox from CBS | “Pop Quiz, Hotshot – WHAT DO YOU DO?”

Solar Fox is an outer-space arcade game where you MUST keep on the move! See MORE Friday Plays NOW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnH98BEzdY8&list=PL13zHeyDr6xswcm1YMnJivU0jefJIOLcb&ab_channel=GenXGrownUp Solar Fox is an arcade game released in 1981 by Bally Midway. It was ported to the Atari 2600 console and was also released as a Commodore-published cartridge for the Commodore 64 computer in 1983. The player's task is to pilot a starship through a series of squared solar cell matrixes inside a rack. While capturing the cells the player must dodge waves of fireballs that are being thrown by Sentinels. These Sentinels move continuously along the perimeter of each cell formation. When an entire field of squares is completed (by flying through each square), the game advances to the next rack. The faster a matrix is cleared, the more points are received. #atari #retrogaming #gameplay #genxgrownup - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com - CHAPTERS

I, Robot: The Classic Atari Arcade Game YOU MISSED!

A new I, Robot release in just a few days, so let's get re-acquanted with the original! See MORE Friday Plays NOW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmNQmfpoXNc&list=PL13zHeyDr6xswcm1YMnJivU0jefJIOLcb&ab_channel=GenXGrownUp If you're unfamiliar with the original I, Robot, that's very likely not your fault. Reportedly, fewer than 1000 of the cabinets were ever manufactured and released to arcades - and that's a shame, because it has quite a pedigree. Not only was it developed by Dave Theurer (who worked on classics like Missile Command and Tempest), but is also notable as being the first commercially produced arcade game rendered entirely with real-time, flat-shaded, 3D polygonal graphics. At the time, I Robot received negative reviews and was a financial flop for Atari, but in the intervening years, it has been recognized as the landmark title that it is - and was even included in the Atari 50 collection in 2022. So, to get us all ready for the 2025 modernized version headed our way, let's travel back to 1983 and get better acquainted with the original. #atari #arcade #retrogaming #genxgrownup - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com

Pick Axe Pete! for the Odyssey² | BIG Claims from a SO-SO Platformer?

Those are some pretty bold claims - can Pick Axe Pete live up to them? See MORE Friday Plays NOW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-0SNVhRM_o&list=PL13zHeyDr6xswcm1YMnJivU0jefJIOLcb&ab_channel=GenXGrownUp Pickaxe Pete is a video game released in 1982 as cartridge number 43 for the Philips Videopac console. It was published in North America for the Magnavox Odyssey² as Pick Axe Pete!. In Brazil, it was re-branded as Didi na Mina Encantada (Didi in the Enchanted Mine) for the Odyssey, featuring the character Didi from the TV series Os Trapalhões on the game cover. The player controls a miner named Pickaxe Pete who starts in the middle of the screen with a pick-axe. There are three doors from which boulders are coming, bouncing down the mine-shafts; every time Pete destroys one of these he gains 3 points, although the axe wears out after a while and disappears. When two boulders collide, they explode, and out comes either a pick-axe which floats to the bottom of the screen, a key which floats to the top, or nothing. If Pete has no axe, the player can either jump over boulders (gaining him 1 point), or get to the bottom of the mine to retrieve a new axe (gaining a 5-point bonus). If Pete collects a key then he can enter the doors, which lead him to the next level. #retrogaming #odyssey #genxgrownup - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com
