Try Afterplay: https://genxgrownup.com/afterplay In 1980, Tomytronic released Cosmic Combat, a dedicated electronic handheld space shooter with one very specific goal: keep fighting until you reach victory. I recently thrifted this 46-year-old handheld, so in this video we clean it up, take a close look at this wonderfully retro piece of electronic gaming history, fire it back up, and find out what it takes to actually beat Cosmic Combat. Unlike so many early electronic games built around chasing an endless high score, this one gives you something to shoot for — and if we can reach 999 points, there’s even a little victory celebration waiting for us. Cosmic Combat was released by Tomy in 1980, made in Japan, and is generally identified as model 7602. It runs on four C-cell batteries and comes from that fascinating period when dedicated electronic games were finding all kinds of creative ways to put an arcade-style experience into your hands. Can this thrift-store survivor still deliver its intended victory 46 years later? Let’s find out. #retrogaming #handheld #arcade #genxgrownup - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS Fightbox » https://genxgrownup.com/fightbox King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com - CHAPTERS 00:00 Cosmic Combat 00:45 Galaxian Note 01:48 Hardware Tour 03:05 Manual 04:30 Clean-Up 06:10 Power On 06:45 Difficulty 1 07:48 Difficulty 2 08:30 Run to 999 12:20 Summary
