Is Atari’s $220 800XL Comeback Worth It? + More Retro News!

The Atari 800XL is coming back—but is this $220 revival worth a spot on your desk? A working keyboard, HDMI output, cartridge support and 25 built-in games make THE 800XL a tempting return to Atari’s home-computer days. George takes a closer look in this week’s Bit By Bit from GenXGrownUp.

Then, the ESA targets Anbernic and handhelds bundled with unauthorized games, while Analogue unveils the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ for SNES and Genesis cartridge fans. Wing Commander III restoration news brings renewed hope for its classic live-action footage, and decomp.dev’s public-index shutdown raises questions about AI’s impact on the retro development community.

We also dig into the Toy Story: Retro Roundup! reviews, explore Shiny Relay’s community-made wireless features for the ModRetro Chromatic, and wrap up with Anbernic RG DDS preorders.

Would you bring THE 800XL home—or stick with your original Atari? Tell us in the comments, and subscribe to GenXGrownUp for more retro gaming news, reviews and nostalgia!
