ATARI Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Wrong Kind of HORROR

Leatherface traded the movie screen for the Atari 2600—but did the horror survive the trip? Spooky season continues on Friday Plays with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Wizard Video Games’ 1983 adaptation that puts YOU behind the chainsaw. I finally give this infamous cartridge a try, explore its unusual history, and take a look at an alternate prototype that helps explain something strange about the box art. There’s plenty of fuel for discussion… even if the chainsaw keeps running dry. Did you ever encounter this one growing up? And what vintage game would you like to see on a future Friday Plays? ATARI & Data Age Sent Me Into the BERMUDA TRIANGLE!

Growing up watching Leonard Nimoy’s “In Search Of…,” I learned that the Bermuda Triangle was somewhere you probably ought to avoid. So naturally, this week I’m heading straight into it—with an Atari 2600 submarine! Requested by viewer TeeDoh Jackson, Data Age’s Bermuda Triangle sends me treasure hunting through a mysterious underwater city. There are sharks, squid, mines, and some things on the ocean floor that are better left alone. I enjoy the arcade action, but once I cross 10,000 points, this expedition gets a LOT more dangerous. #atari #retrogaming #vintage #genxgrownup - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv

ATARI x Activision: Hands-On with the New Cartridges

Atari’s new Activision cartridges are almost here! Atari sent over a media kit with the Standard Editions of Pitfall!, River Raid, H.E.R.O., and Pressure Cooker, giving me an early opportunity to check out the packaging, manuals, and cartridges—and put them to work. Already ordered? Here’s a sneak peek at what’s coming. Still on the fence? This closer look might help you decide whether these re-releases belong in your collection. Thanks to Atari for providing these games. Did this look reinforce your decision or change your mind?
