The Atari 800XL is coming back—but is this $220 revival worth a spot on your desk? A working keyboard, HDMI output, cartridge support and 25 built-in games make THE 800XL a tempting return to Atari’s home-computer days. George takes a closer look in this week’s Bit By Bit from GenXGrownUp. Then, the ESA targets Anbernic and handhelds bundled with unauthorized games, while Analogue unveils the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ for SNES and Genesis cartridge fans. Wing Commander III restoration news brings renewed hope for its classic live-action footage, and decomp.dev’s public-index shutdown raises questions about AI’s impact on the retro development community. We also dig into the Toy Story: Retro Roundup! reviews, explore Shiny Relay’s community-made wireless features for the ModRetro Chromatic, and wrap up with Anbernic RG DDS preorders. Would you bring THE 800XL home—or stick with your original Atari? Tonight we're jumping into BROFORCE, the gloriously over-the-top run-and-gun action game from Free Lives and Devolver Digital! Broforce throws us into destructible levels packed with ridiculous weapons, massive explosions, action-movie-inspired heroes, and what appears to be a complete disregard for the concept of “too much.” This is my first real dive into the campaign, so we're starting from the beginning and seeing just how far the Broforce can take us. If this one clicks, we may keep the campaign going on future Thursday streams. Grab a seat, jump into the chat, and prepare for excessive force in the name of freedom! #Broforce #RetroGaming #RunAndGun #IndieGames #GamingLive

This week on Bit By Bit, Evercade is bringing DOOM to cartridge — but do you really need the massive $249.99 limited-edition DOOM Nexus bundle when existing Evercade owners can grab the new DOOM Collection cartridge for just $29.99? We break down what you're actually getting and which option makes the most sense for retro gamers and collectors. Plus, nearly 100 pristine copies of a previously unseen Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt variant have surfaced, including five cartridges earning a perfect PSA 10 grade. Commodore is resurrecting the legendary TAC-2 joystick for $49.99, and one of the rarest arcade machines ever made — a working two-player Computer Space cabinet from 1973 — has gone up for auction. We also check out a new ModRetro M64 firmware update bringing wireless rumble, display options, audio improvements and more; Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns brings the classic strategy game back roughly 40 years later; Y2K electronics-repair sim ReStory passes 300,000 sales; and Bubsy 4D gets a huge Black Hole update with 15 new levels, outfits, leaderboards and more. If you're into retro gaming, classic hardware, game preservation, modern retro consoles, and all the weird and wonderful things happening in the hobby, subscribe and join us every week for Bit By Bit! #RetroGaming #DOOM #Evercade #RetroGames #GamingNews #BitByBit #Nintendo #SuperMarioBros #Commodore #TAC2 #ArcadeGames #ComputerSpace #ModRetro #M64 #DefenderOfTheCrown #Bubsy4D #ReStory #GenXGrownUp - LINKS Nexus DOOM Edition - https://tinyurl.com/w9fxm3jz Rare Super Mario Bros.
