Bubsy 4D – Official Announcement Trailer

COLOGNE, GERMANY – August 19, 2025 – What could possibly go wrong? Atari and independent game studio Fabraz today announced Bubsy 4D, marking the return of everyone’s fur-vorite bobcat mascot in his first 3D adventure since 1996. A colorful and expressive platformer that blends nostalgic charm with modern movement mechanics – and a furmidable sense of humor – Bubsy 4D will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG.

“Bubsy has always had a reputation – some of it notable, some of it infamous,” said Ethan Stearns, VP of Games at Atari. “But through it all, Bubsy has remained memorable, and we felt the character deserved a truly great game behind it. In teaming up with Fabraz, we believe we’ve finally delivered just that with Bubsy 4D: a fresh take that both respects the past and brings something entirely new to the table.”

In Bubsy 4D, the Woolies – an aggressive, fabric-stealing alien race from the planet Rayon – are back at it again but this time going straight for the source: stealing Earth’s sheep and empowering them with Woolie technology. Things quickly spiral when the sheep revolt, creating a new breed of enemies, the BaaBots, to overthrow their captors and return with a new army to claim back The Golden Fleeces. Now, it’s up to Bubsy and his motley crew of acquaintances to journey through space and steal back the Golden Fleece from the BaaBot’s newly claimed, fleece powered, woolly home planets.

Bubsy 4D lets players run, jump, glide and roll across alien planets with platforming purrfection. Players can tackle vibrant fabric- and craft-themed levels at their own pace – carefully platforming or blasting through in Bubsy’s new hairball form – each planet ending in a BaaBot boss battle. Spend yarn to purchase stylish new outfits, collect hidden blueprints to unlock new moves and race against other player’s ghost data in online time trials. Along the way, Bubsy will reunite with furmiliar friends including Terri, Terry, Virgil and Oblivia – all to a pawsitively funky soundtrack by Fat Bard, blending jazz, big band, electro-swing and more.

“It’s been a wild ride to work on a sequel to Bubsy 3D, considering its infamous legacy.” said Fabian Rastorfer at Fabraz. “It was really important for us to take this challenge seriously by both identifying what’s made the bobcat stick around for so long, while also reinventing parts of the series to work better. I believe Bubsy’s move-set is stronger than ever and anyone who’s played our previous games will feel right at home with this Expressive 3D Platformer. I’m incredibly proud of the world we’ve created and I can’t WAIT to see everyone’s reactions to this announcement. Surprise!”

Bubsy 4D will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG. The game’s launch date will be revealed in the coming months.
