The NeoGeo AES+ was shaping up to be one of the most exciting new pieces of retro hardware this year — but now fans are going to be waiting a whole lot longer. The hardware-accurate NeoGeo revival has been pushed all the way into September 2027, and we’re digging into what caused the major delay. Plus, GOG takes game preservation beyond the games themselves with printable classic PC big-box extras, Super Smash Bros. Melee reaches a huge decompilation milestone after years of work, and the new Metal Slug Ultimate Collection packs ten games together with online co-op. We’ve also got a major RPCS3 breakthrough that makes physical PS3 discs much more useful on PC, another surprising development in the never-ending Amico saga, a modern reimagining of Lara Croft’s original Tomb Raider adventure, and a compact 4:3 retro gaming monitor built with classic consoles in mind. It’s eight bits of retro gaming news, all packed into this week’s Bit By Bit! #NeoGeo #RetroGaming #SNK #GamePreservation #MetalSlug #TombRaider #ClassicGaming #BitByBit - LINKS NeoGeo AES+ Delayed - https://tinyurl.com/498wbpxe GOG Big-Box Preservation Extras - https://tinyurl.com/yc29phfs Super Smash Bros. I picked up this nearly unused Radofin Tele-Sports Mini at the Long Island Retro Gaming Expo, mostly because it was impossible to resist the pure late-1970s charm of the thing. With 4 electronic action games, two unusual controllers, and even a PRO-AM OPTION, this is a great little snapshot of what home TV gaming looked like in 1977. In this video, I take a closer look at the hardware, the history behind Radofin, and what makes this strange little Pong-era time capsule so much fun to explore. card 12:14 Bentley - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv - CHAPTERS 00:00 Radofin Tele-Sports 01:57 Box Opening 03:55 Switch Box 04:40 Controllers 07:18 Manual 08:32 Light Clean-Up 10:35 Practice & Pro/Am 13:00 Two-Player Tennis 14:20 Two-Player Hockey 15:20 Two-Player Squash 16:17 Conclusion

No joystick. No TV. Just a stealth bomber you hold against your face. Released in 1998, Radica’s Stealth Assault puts an air combat game inside a handheld shaped like the aircraft itself. Look into the cockpit, tilt the whole thing to steer, and use its buttons to take on enemy targets. I’m taking this unusual piece of ’90s gaming hardware for a test flight, exploring how it works and seeing what it’s like to play. Can a little screen and tilt controls deliver big cockpit thrills? Before Coyote vs. Acme finally hit theaters (against all odds), Road Runner had its own delayed debut on the Atari 2600. Started by Bob Polaro in 1984 and eventually released in 1989, this Looney Tunes chase got a second chance—but was it worth rescuing? This week on Friday Plays, I dodge desert hazards, turn Wile E. Coyote’s traps against him, and discover why this cartoon chase leaves me with mixed feelings. What do YOU think of Road Runner on the Atari 2600? Share your memories—and suggestions for future Friday Plays—in the comments! - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv

A heavier focus on thriftting pickups this month on 12-inch vinyl and books/books-and-records, but of course, some great gaming finds, too! Some of these are just fun additions to the collection, but others may turn into full GenXGrownUp videos down the road — so let me know what catches your eye. #thrift #vintage #retrogaming #genxgrownup - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv - CHAPTERS 00:00 August Pick-Ups 02:05 12-Inch Vinyl 06:12 Book & Records 08:28 Books 12:16 What I Didn't Buy 14:15 Touch Me 14:52 Bank Shot Pool 15:43 MGA Handhelds 17:14 What's Next
