ATARI Star Wars: The Arcade Game | It Took THREE Companies to Build This 2600 Port!

Star Wars, the arcade game, was created and released into arcades in 1983 by Atari, but when it came time to bring their own space-shooter to home consoles, they hit a legal road block. So how was it that Atari didn't have the rights to bring their OWN game to their own home console in 1984? A board game company beat them to it. #atari #retrogaming #starwars #genxgrownup - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com - CHAPTERS

Atari’s 1982 Ms. Pac-Man | Setting Right What PAC-MAN Wrecked!

Atari’s 1982 Ms. Pac-Man | Setting Right What PAC-MAN Wrecked!

Atari released Tod Fry's VCS conversion of Pac-Man in 1981 to somewhat mixed reviews. Like the Star Wars prequels, Pac-Man has become more appreciated as the years pass, but at the time it left many players frustrated and wanting more. So, the following year, when the home version of Ms. Pac-Man was set to be released, Atari seemed to be doing everything it could to put Mister in the past. Jon was among those disappointed with Pac-Man on the 2600, and he's also among those who have grown more fond of it over the years. But in 1982, the wound was still fresh. And it's clear Atari wanted players to know they were listening. In a time when games were commonly created by a single programmer, Ms. Pac-Man's development is credited to FOUR different programmers all working to deliver a more accurate arcade conversion. #atari #retrogaming #pacman #genxgrownup - SHOP http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com - CHAPTERS

Atari’s ASTEROIDS Got a 1998 REMAKE | Is It WORTH Going Back For?

Atari’s ASTEROIDS Got a 1998 REMAKE | Is It WORTH Going Back For?

You are an employee of the Astro-Mining Corporation. Your mission is to simply go to an assigned area of space and clear the area of asteroids and the occassional debris. Not that Jon would know any of that because he's NEVER played it! In this video, we fire up the 1998 PS1 Asteroids for the first time and see what it has to offer. The game consists of five zones, each with a different background and some with special features. Each zone has 15 levels. In addition to the standard asteroids, there are also mined asteroids that explode; indestructible asteroids that are, well, indestructible; fireball comets; crystal asteroids that regenerate; alien egg asteroids containing deadly baby space worms; and ancient energy asteroids that shoot back! And there's plenty of enemies in addition to the asteroids, such as Standard and Super Saucers, Asteroids Tugs, Fuel Transports, Hexes, Nuke Drivers, and Vulturoids. There are three types of ships to choose from, each with different strengths and weaknesses. There are also three skill levels. If you beat the game at Expert or higher, you gain access to a fourth type of ship. All ships features the standard laser, shield, flip (instantly flips your ship 180 degrees), and hyperspace. There are also limited power-ups you can pick up such as GunSat, Mines, Homing Missiles, Plasma Drill, and Trigger Bombs. The game supports either one or two players. In two player mode, the object is to simply outscore your opponent in a random zone and level. You cannot directly kill your opponent by shooting him, but there are other ways.... Lastly, if you shoot the classic-style asteroid in level 15 of the first zone, you'll find the option of "Classic Asteroids" now appearing on the main menu. #atari #asteroids #playstation #genxgrownup - SHOP https://www.amazon.com/dp/B086WTNR6L?tag=genxgrownup-20 http://genxgrownup.com/amazon http://GenXGrownUp.com/merch - PODCAST http://GenXGrownUp.com/pod - SUPPORT US https://patreon.com/genxgrownup - WEB & SOCIAL http://GenXGrownUp.com/discord https://twitch.tv/genxgrownup http://fb.me/GenXGrownUp https://bsky.app/profile/genxgrownup.com https://www.tiktok.com/@genxgrownup https://www.instagram.com/genxgrownup/ http://GenXGrownUp.com - SPONSORS King of Nerds » http://kingofnerds.tv Order of Cosmic Champions » http://www.orderofcosmicchampions.com
